Gentium Book Basic font family offers Regular and Bold weights, as well as am italic styled version of each, in Basic Latin and Latin-1 uincode as a roman serif freeware TTF web font family.<br />

This distribution archive includes the regular and bold weights along with an italic version of each for a total of 4 .ttf font files, the font license text file (OFL.txt) and this distribution archive info note text file (Gentium Book Basic.txt).<br />

This is a free font, licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.  The Open Font License (OFL) allows for their use (with commercial use allowed), modification and redistribution of fonts, as long as they are not sold and that all derivatives retain the same OFL license. The Gentium Book Basic font family is based on the original Gentium design, but with additional weights. The family comes with a complete regular, bold, italic and bold italic set of fonts.<br />

The supported character set, however, is much smaller than for the main Gentium Plus fonts. These "Basic" fonts support only the Basic Latin and Latin-1 Supplement Unicode ranges, plus a selection of the more commonly used extended Latin characters, with miscellaneous diacritical marks, symbols and punctuation. In particular, these fonts do not support full extended Latin IPA, complete support for Central European languages, Greek and Cyrillic.<br />

The "Gentium Basic" family is very similar but has a slightly lighter weight.<br />
